    A couple more observations:

    a) Regardless of who wins the budget, there is still going to be a massive budget income shortfall that needs to be offset. If the Libs do win then if not the FBT, where else can they get the money?

    b) Only a "select" few benefit from this tax concession and my opinion is that not too many of those that don't benefit care less whether the concession is removed. On the contrary, they would rather see the concession removed rather than a tax increase on something that does impact them.

    c) I don't believe all the large number of job losses in the auto industry that are being bandied around. Of course a certain number may defer buying a new car, but that's about all.

Finally, MMS are not getting too much sympathy from finance journo's. This may well influence just how the Libs treat the issue should they win the election.

It's going to be a long drawn out and messy few months.
