The plot thickens! So now we have three major gas producers in Mauritania ( Woodside, British Gas and Gaz de France) and apparently no gas exploitation agreeement with the Mauritanian government! It would be funny if our money wasn't involved.
This development may present Simon with another bargaining chip when it comes to potentially trading HDR's gas interests for more straightforward and less capital intensive oil opportunites. I believe the last thing we need at this stage of HDR's evolution is to be roped in to sharing the funding of a Mauritanian LNG plant. Big bikkies, big equity funding requirements?
