Thanks Auto and Googala
Re Twitter, I hadn't used it till the other day.
It is effectively SMS with a portal around it.
So you are limited in the size of your Tweets (max of 117 characters I think), so you need to be short and sharp and focus on keywords.
When referencing stocks, always stick a $ in front of the code. This will ensure that it is recognised as a stock code, so for example, stock market social media scanners will pick up the tweet.
"Follow" (in our case) stock market related Tweeters and in return, over time, if/when you respond to others and people like what you tweet, you will pick up followers.
Them's the basics - the rest will fall into place as you go.
From a pure social perspective, I was dead against Twitter and Facebook (waste of time), but I do actually use LinkedIn somewhat and from brief investigations, Twitter definitely has an interesting place in terms of offering real-time trending data.
Re Message Boards:
i3investor.com, is definitely not a busy site, but it is easy to work with, so a good start.
Now I've done a little more investigation and Boardcentral (http://www.boardcentral.com/boards/BOTA) provides an all-in-one summary of posts from various forums - i3investor not included yet, but after Yahoo Message Boards, it looks like Investorshub is next most popular and the message boards are accessible - so I've just posted over there - http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/board.aspx?board_id=3330) and will two-time post on there and i3investor.com
Please post any ideas re US boards etc.
