Yes the name Darren Millane comes immediately to mind, who was killed in a car accident whilst intoxicated. A friend of mine, who was also (unfortunately) a Collingwood supporter, was approached at a well known Melbourne watering hole by the aforementioned with the aggressive suggestion that he should put up or shut up. The manner in which Collingwood made him out to be a hero was a disgrace to the game.
And, of course, one of the greatest forwards of the last thirty years, Garry Ablett Snr., was not known for his pleasant manners but was well known for his rather large protruding elbows. Ditto Tony Lockett 'plugger', from the Sydney Swans and St Kilda. How he was ever awarded the Brownlow medal (best and FAIREST)is beyond me.
