gonski utter waste...new curriculum needed..., page-9

I have been impressed with the local state school where my young granddaughter attends. After around 18 months, she is reading so well. The school has had a big drive on reading - and this is without "gonski" or "better schools". So, that would come down to curriculum improvement which this school has done.

One thing I do agree with extra funding is to help those with learning disabilities. I have an older grandchild who has struggled severely with memory issues but there was insufficient funding in the state system to test her. There were always others worse than her.

Finally, we got the testing done and she has almost no ability to retain information verbally. If that had been known much earlier, she could have had more help in her primary years preparing her more for high school.
