Could it be they don't want enough time for them to be properly scrutinized?
Or maybe it is as Hockey suggests - we all get bored by focusing too much on costings
ok let me see how this works
* the Shadow Treasurer of a party does not want to bore us with costings (as all good treasurer's do ;)
* the leader of the party wants us to hear about all these fantastic policies and promises not to bother us with the costings to at least the last week before the election.
...Or maybe if we are really lucky we won't have to be bored by any costings of their policies until after the election
