Sick of all the speculation and misinformation. Coming from a process engineering b/g I would assume pipeing is min api 5l carbon steel suitable for abrasive / caustic slurries as what's transported in cracking and leaching sections. Stating it is mild steel is absurd, and there is no hard evidence to back this. Ny times states it is steel--> carbon steel. Preferably heavy walled or even 316 l could be used, at a premium. In the Ann, the solution to this premature wear was cited as involving minimal cost-->lynas claiming defective product. It is good practice to overdesign, I assume piping ordered was to design spec. The costs lie in additional labor expense, loss of leached product. Since downstream separation can operate semi-batch,leached product can still be fed through albeit at reduced flow rate.

Design and construction of a pilot plant of such a large scale, is not completely straightforward as all that invested should well know. Price reflects that. If you cannot wait for all bugs to be ironed out and phase 1 to be op, you are in the wrong business. This is not iron ore guys!! Please judge risk vs reward accordingly. Fundamentally though we do have a rising basket, which is a positive. Hold tight, or dispose but stop the whining!
