Mickster, you're fed up with the speculation ... but then you speculate! The only description we have had is "standard steel" which I would suggest is more likely to be mild steel than a high carbon one. No, there IS no hard evidence as to what the steel was - and whose fault is that? Lynas! You can't get around what a cock-up the piping was, it only survived a few days at nameplate capacity. I forecast years ago that the plant would have teething problems (against strong opposition from the rampers) but was thinking or process or technological issues rather than basic corrosion.
