jaluma, from the article it seems the $1,000/kW price of Redox is from manufacturing 400 per year. CFU would still be circa €18,000 when manufacturing 400 per year. They could be doing that in the first year rather than your 3-4 years time. The thing with USA fuel cell companies is once they hype up their product as being majorly different to other fuel cells, they manage to raise 100,s of millions to fund factories, with all that cash they can afford to make 400 a year.

One good thing for CFU is that Redox first systems will be 25kW rather than 5kW, but 25kW can still be put into a housing estate or a block of apartments. It even makes sense to buy a 25kW for a larger home and sell the excess power to the grid, at €25,000 it is €18,655, not much difference in price to a Bluegen, but far more power to sell.

I have not gone deep into "estimated timeframe/cost breakdown for their future production" because I need to see if they come up with the goods, see if trials are looking successful, see if they give system longevity data so I can calculate payback time, finally I need to see their final commercial prices advertised.
