I avoided El Nido and Underground River, as I heard on forums that it is a tourist trap/rip-off, as you suggested.

I stayed in the Hotel Fleuris in PP, recently renovated, very good value, crap 'free wifi' though!

Would you agree about the local cuisine mate?

I avoided the PI food like the plague!!

There is an excellent Dim Sum place on the main street of PP, which saw my custom every lunchtime.

I try to avoid the videoke places.

Have you been to the Bario Baretto area of Subic Bay?

I can suggest an excellent American run diner called Sit 'n Bull, if you're ever there. All of the tricycle drivers know its location.

Really good western food, large serves, around 300 pesos.

Talking about tricycles, taking one into town during a heavy monsoon downpour is an experience, if you don't value your life that is!!

I wish I was there now HappyCats....
