Hingdog I have only skimmed quickly through the replies on this thread of yours but I'd say you have got your wish and indeed we can and do have here a
"a sensible debate about the senate"?
I'd go further and say we probably have here a far more practical [and sensible] debate than we are likely to get from this new cohort of senators when they take their seats.
We don't know the full breakdown but I believe we could get two PUP senators and one Victorian unemployed hooning petrol-head along with a few of the ilk of Milne and Sarah H-Young, and a Liberal Democrat who will likely steal an otherwise Liberal senate position by means of his drawing a lucky position on the NSW ballot paper and a few other unknowns.
Bring on the Double D as soon as we can before the lights are turned off and we're closed for business and the country is shut down.
