Andrew...perhaps that is where the problem lies. Everyone likes the fairytales but they all want different endings.
It is truely amasing how we can be brainwashed to believe that there is only one side to a coin. We then will kill to prove that we are right.
On a slightly different tangent but in the context of the thread.... I have seen people slowly get sucked into these debates and after awhile the rational thinking goes out the window, there can only be 100% right & 100% wrong. The debates then get personal, and the search begins to discredit the opponent. No longer being able to give any ground for fear of loss of face in the community or worse still because the rage factor has now come into play. Justifications are given for the position taken whether or not that is the main reason for the stance. The determination not to be beaten grows. The only thing stopping blood letting is the anonymity.
