If anyone is interested, here are a few reports on emerging oil and gas plays in the US and East Africa. There's a lot going on in these regions and it seems that the US still has plenty to offer with it's shale boom going on.
Personally, I'd prefer a US deal rather than something in Africa due to the infrastructure in place. I also think it would gain a lot of interest from investors who want to gain exposure to the US shale boom in new areas. I remember how good the Eagleford shale was for holders of those companies involved with many being bought out and a company like AUT giving excellent returns to shareholders.
Despite the fact that nothing has happened yet, it's a comforting sign that there seems to be plenty of newer shale plays to take advantage of. The last link is an article on the Tuscaloosa marine shale.
