It's not the yield-obsessed investors who pushed the SP down 11 cents after the dividend of 5 cents hit its ex-dividend date, it is the trend-is-your-friend speculators who run like chooks when they see movement.
When the chooks realise that the item tossed into the chookpen was only a pebble, they'l lose interest, and the SP will drift up quickly to its rational post-dividend price. In the absence of no further news, higher or lower than that SP would then reflect the normal push and pull of the subjectivity-driven market.
