oh rubbish head - spoken like a true unionite

there is NO onus on the worker - all responsibility is on the supervisor - employees are wrapped in bubble wrap and any chance of independent thought is banished

the piper event was clearly a lack of design not planning. they should have had three pumps - one as a permanent backup.

and sorry newmillions but nearly all of the ohs reps on any site now is an ex copper miltary or some newb straight out of uni who havent got the slightest idea about what is and what isnt safe.

diploma in ohs? until these people get real life practical experience by working on the tools with much of the equipment they think is unsafe they will continually stuff the industry up for those who DO now what the situation is.

safety today has become a sheltered workshop of kneejerk reactions.

do you ever wonder why rio bhp and others get their gear built overseas?

SAFETY rules in australia make owning any type of business untenable and they know they can get things done overseas without any resistance form the likes of 22 year old diploma or freshly exited uni grads not having any idea

a case in point - recently on gorgon someone using a cutting disc on a 5 inch grinder accidently cut himself. a total state wide ban immediately placed on them. this after every welder and boilermaker has been using these for years and having them as an integral part of their trade.

now they have do to a risk assessment, get it signed off, and then go begging to the store to receive ONE disc. there is also a list of who is and isnt approved to use them.

i have no time for uni grads or one week wonders in the safety "industry". what on earth would a 22 year old female know about construction?

and dont get me started on assessors
