In modern times no one calculates resources by simple averaging. It would be great if this simplistic approach was still in use - it isn't. A comparison of grades between holes really has no relevance if the high grades need to be cut, because of the influences of potentially biasing the result.

Let's await the next resource update and see what eventuates. When the new JORC 2012 comes out on the 1st Dec 2013 companies will need to only include those resources that could be potentially mined in the future. This may discount much of the very low grade material that has been included in the current total resource.
