I guess it's the devil you know but I think I'd prefer the occasional cyclone, but my house is tucked beneath a hill and is cyclone rated. How do you build a fire rated house?
I used to refill fire extinguishers in a previous life and a couple of 9kg standard [sodium bicarb] dry powder fire extinguishers would be very effective on dousing spot fires. Much more effective than water in a hand held appliance IMHO. Possibly a more instantaneous kill than a garden hose.
