local support for hillside

Minister Kouta said on the ABC "that some of these objectors are greenies and you know the Greens oppose mining".

Adds as different point of view and bearing in mind we have a state election in March 2014 the Green Party would love a few issues to run on for the election. So IMO this is a lot of politicing.

The govt is going through the public consultation process for the EIS and will address serious issues or enviroment dangers if any. Some of the issues are red herrings IMO. We have had a zinc mine at Strathalbyn and copper mine at Callington with no problems. So if you operate at Callinton then Ardrossan should be no problem .

Also there is a dolomite mine a few km north of Hillside thats been there fro decades. No problems with dust here. No one complaining so IMO its all politics.

I have family in the area who own businesses that serve YP, and a brother thats currently unemployed but has his name down for a job at Hillside. Hillside say the may be starting to employ from jan14.

The majority of people in the area want this project to go ahead for the benefits it brings, but you will find people especially in South Aust that will oppose any thing new.
