No probs gents, its a unique find. Why? B'coz it's in a area where u look for Fe & Au and coal is unheard of, and occurs at shallow depths. They'll have to add 2 more dots on WA Mines Dept maps now for this find at Kazput.

NST didn't know what was going on, as they didn't log the holes or twin them to core. They actually hit coal back in August (page 5), as per the appendix in the release & rang up consultants from Brissie to the office to come over & verify & suggest a strategy. U cant ignore 7 holes with coal.

The chips were sent to Bureau Veritas in Brissie for a quick prox analysis (last para on page-4). What one needs is a core sample.

WA Dept of Mines have these 2 deposits named as Kazput North (one on the highway) & Kazput South (in FMG's permit).

Note that the Ashburton Trough is in hard rock province, ie geologically the oldest rocks in Australia (ie Proterozoic) dominated by Fe ore miners.

So what I think has happened at Kazput, millions of years ago, is a local depocentre that got filled up with plant matter real quick without any disturbance, which explains the thickness of the seams drilled so far.

The discovery is on the other side of the highway away from the Hammersley Banded Iron Formations.

With the cores, they should take some roof/floor samples to get them checked for palynology to work out an age.

It will most probably show up as high moisture younger age coal, hence a Lignite deposit. Will follow this closely.
