cashman2284 step up to the plate ..... so glad you want to take this further ... so lets go:-

    firstly lets discuss recoveries ...

NTU - 83% recoveries producing a concentrate, then 92% recoveries producing a mixed rare earth oxide

    so 83% X 92% = 76% overall recoveries

    now for PEK ...

    source: http://www.stocknessmonster.com/news-item?S=PEK&E=ASX&N=653655

there you go PEK recoveries only 56%

    ___________________________________________

    So how does this translate:-

NTU basket price $82 kg x 95% (to eliminate the 5% lights) x 76% overall recoveries = $59 kg x 80% for mixed rare earth oxide = $47 kg gross

    Now for your PEK
PEK basket price $52.34 less $6.34 for the La which by all reports will be in massive over supply and worthless; less a further $2.39 for the Ce which is already in oversupply and is worthless by current reports (Molycorp can't sell their Ce oxide)

    $52.34 less $6.34 less $2.39 = $42.61 (excluding La and Ce)

    $42 x 56% recoveries = $24 kg gross

PEK needs to be the lowest cost producer in the world because with only a 56% recovery about half the basket price disappears

like I said above cashman2284 you can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig ...

do you understand now ... NTU will receive more from a mixed rare earth oxide than PEK will receive from separated rare earth oxides
