Will have to dig and read a little bit as I am not too familiar with the stratigraphy in the basin.

I can confirm that oil can migrate downwards - at least stratigraphically which is quite simple.
I had this setting in the last project I worked on: Anticline - Syncline setting with oil migrating from the syncline into the anticline. Of course upwards (buoyancy) but still stratigraphically downwards through faults.
But as we know we do not have this kind of geologic setting.

However oil can also migrate downwards gravitationally but I really don't want to rely on it.
