It becomes a cost benefit from fiscal perspective....govt subsidies versus centrelink payments (circa +$100M pa)
From a social perspective it would be negative to have so many unskilled people out of work with little hope of redeployment.
But given the fiscal position the ALP left us in the conservatives will have to pull the pin otherwise it perpetuates the "living on borrowed time" mentality. This continues to create significant intergeneration inequities as future generations will have to pay for it.
