I could be years or even decades of self delusion...
I recall reading an article about the remnants of the somewhat similar apocalyptic Aum-Shinrikyo cult in Japan that decided to hasten their predicted and waited apocalypse by launching a sarin gas attack on the Tokyo subway system...
The gist of the article is that despite all, there were still some true believers left in Aum Shinrikyo probably close to 3 decades after the disbandment...
