will someone speak up for me! Will someoone please get up and say what many (probably half) of the nation are thinking.

It is frustrating me having to watch the media pick and choose and all the political correctness that goes with it.

This is what annoys me about this whole situation:

    * We all know the rules of other countries. We expect people to come here and live by our rules. If not, we are the first to make a noise. How on earth should we expect Singapore to change their rules.

    * I come to work every day (do you) because i have to, to survive, to live. Van, took the easy option. He decided to traffick drugs. There are people out there that are retired at the age of 30. Millionaires because they traffic drugs, which in turn has the potential to kill people. Why should i sympathise for someone that does this.

    * Where is the live cross on this morning's TV to the family the just lost all of their lives on the weekend in a car accident. We have people getting killed on our roads every day because of a lack of Government funding, BUT we kick up a big stink for a person that is caught trafficking drugs.

    * Where is the live cross, the front page news, the pressure on the government for the poor kids that get hooked on herion and die daily.

    * What about the murders, the break ins the bashings associated with drugs. Every day and probably a high percentage of crime is related to drugs. BUT poor Van!!!! What about the elderly man that just got bashed recently because a kid had a drug habit.

    * Ask any parent whose kids have died because of drugs and see what their thoughts are on the matter.

This is frustrating the hell out of me. The Bali 9 will be next. It is going to be bigger and louder. Spare a thought for the affect that this all has on our lives. And lets put into perspective. We have innocent people getting killed here every day. We have become a sympathetic nation. Until something hits home or it affects us personally, then we expect something to be done. Please lets not put showcase the wrongs of Van's death, but showcase what can happen to someone who does something so stupid. AND especially, what affect it has on as at home.

I do not condone the death penalty for drug possession or trafficking. All i am saying is that we have bigger issues that need to be addressed and the reality is, you are playing with fire when entering those countries. I just want someone to come out and say that what he is doing is wrong, its the law in that country and you can't expect our government to move the goal posts to suit us.

I'll cop a bit of flack for this, but just like some people believe what happened today is wrong, i am entitled to my own opinion. I've driven down the pacific hwy and see a fatal accident with 3 lives lost. It gets a mention on the 2nd page of the paper. If the government had barriers dividing the road, they would have been saved. They were innocent people. We have things way out of perspective.
