Research now underway to determine effects of anesthetic's part in onset of senile dementia. Anesthetics appears to be associated with longer term cognitive disorder and the acceleration of senile dementia.
What are the chances of cognitive assessments becoming the norm for older patients prior to medical operations? This would determine patient risk as well as the type of anesthetic procedure that may be appropriate.
