DAVID KIRK TO JOIN BOARD OF KATHMANDU HOLDINGS LIMITED
At today's Annual Meeting John Harvey, the acting Chairman of ASX and NZX
listed company Kathmandu Holdings Ltd, announced that the Board intends to
appoint Mr David Kirk as a Non-Executive Independent Director.
Mr Kirk is the Chairman of Trade Me Group Ltd. He joined that Board as
Chairman in October 2011 when Trade Me also listed on the NZX and ASX. Since
July 2009 he has been the Chairman of Hoyts Group Ltd. Mr Kirk is also the
co-founder and Managing Partner of Bailador Investment Management and sits on
the Board of Bailador portfolio companies. He is a Director of Forsyth Barr
Group Ltd, Chairman of Trustees of Sydney Grammar School, a Director of the
Sydney Medical School Foundation and FoodShare.
In his career in Executive Management Mr Kirk was the Chief Executive Officer
of Fairfax Media from 2005 to 2008. He was also the Chief Executive Officer
and Managing Director of PMP Limited from 2003 to 2005 and the Regional
President (Australasia) for Norske Skog from 2000 to 2003.
Mr Kirk has also worked for Fletcher Challenge Paper and Fletcher Challenge
Energy in Senior Executive roles in New Zealand and Australia from 1995 to
1999. He was Chief Policy Advisor to the Prime Minister of New Zealand from
1992 to 1994 and was a management consultant with McKinsey & Company in
London from 1989 to 1991.
Mr Harvey said Mr Kirk's expertise in online and digital technology would be
invaluable as Kathmandu furthered the development of its global strategy,
through accelerated online sales growth via both Kathmandu's own platform and
global marketplace websites.
"His appointment will further enhance the skillset of the Board as it seeks
to establish Kathmandu as a significant global presence in the outdoor travel
and adventure market" Mr Harvey said.
Mr Harvey also confirmed that following Mr Kirk's appointment as a Director
it is the intention of Kathmandu's Board that he would be appointed Chairman
early in 2014.
