I'm wondering what it will take for people in the UK to decide that human induced warming is not so severe that we 'need' to leave all the gas in the ground, despite the fact that it is cleaner than coal, is a vital 'bridge' to renewables, and possibly mitigate a risk that is now being more openly discussed, as as possibly being at the edge of a global cooling period, which could result in a significant increase of winter deaths from current levels of tens of thousands each winter.

Best way to mitigate both risks (warming and cooling) - is to explore right now, with minimal permit delays (e.g. 2 weeks for approvals would be sensible - with no EIS requirements ....) and finally, some Russian style anti-hooliganism laws would be a nice touch to facilitate lawful exploration.
