The UK,US,Australia,NZ and other allies all have intelligence sharing channels and constantly exchange intelligence. They have had very close Intelligence sharing for 30 years or more. Mobile phone intercepts have been going on in Australia since at least 1990 or there abouts.
Every Country engages in Signals Intelligence Gathering(SigInt). It is not an aberration but it is the norm.
There is no problem with any of this and every government knows it happens. The Indons are just beating their chests. The Indon President is gaining a lot of kudos in Indon by making a stand, but he knows all about the SigInt community.
It will all be over in a month or two. A couple of Army organised protests out side the Australian Embassy is just normal for Indonesia.
If they want to get serious we could always pull our $650,000,000 foreign aide. It wont come to that and in my opinion has reached its climax now.
