TONY Abbott today defended the right of Quentin Bryce to declare her support for a republic amid calls for her to step down before her term as governor-general ends. The Prime Minister, who was director of Australians for Constitutional Monarchy before entering parliament, said it was "more than appropriate" for Ms Bryce to share her personal views.
"She did it with grace and style," Mr Abbott said in Sydney.
