So what you're saying is we'd be better off not trading with Indonesia & the 'other little Asian states'. Indonesia has 250m people, it's economy is rated to be one of the world's stars, it has massive consumer potential for Australia. Our exports are about $5 billion, and say another $5 billion for the others. Where will we export that $10 billion to in a depressed world economy? Nowhere. So hundreds of Aussie businesses, thousands of our jobs go belly up. Onto the dole they go, costing taxpayers, well, $10 billion. Plus our exports are likely to soar to $50 billion to them in 10 years. You wouldn't win the nobel prize for economics, would you?
