There is talk around the traps that Sally Mallay and Thundelarra are talking seriously about a JV to mine the open cut section of Thundelarra's nickel finds which are about 20 km's away from where SMY are building their new nickel plant.THX call their deposits "Copernicus" and "Salk" they also reported another drill intersection hit about 500 metres North of Salk and another similar anomaly 800 metres south of Salk. So there could be quite a bit of ore for the SMY plant due for completion March 2004.

If so, this would be good news for both companies.

The only stumbling block I can forsee is THX 's close association with RIO in this area as Rio have an option or first right of refusal over the 100% Eileen bore claim where the two nickel deposits are located.

It is well known that Rio are only interested in a big find, so they may let SMY mine the open cut sections and concentrate on where the shoots are coming from by drilling deeper.
