It's first reason for being is NOT "entertainment"..well it's not SUPPOSED to be.
It PURPORTS to be THE gold standard, THE unbiased umpire. THE without fear or favour reporter of the Nation's business.
I don't think it will change. I wouldn't mind QUITE so much if it DELIVERED something useful on it's pathetic bias. What did we get? Two more Ex Prime Ministers with entitlements, up to the ABC's eyeballs, and $300 Billion of debt with what to show for it?
