Why would any Australian add such a statement to such a tragic news report?
Such underlying views of the history of Australia are fundamentally flawed and wreak of xenophobia.
For the record, Australia did not begin in 1788 and most of our criminal activity has nothing to do with mosques.
Australia is not solely comprised of white Anglo-Saxon protestants and not one of the major religious groupings can lay claim to a mortgage on desirable human values let alone boast a flattering record when it comes to valuing human life.
Some of the worst human atrocities and social outrages in history are directly attributable to the world's major religions. Nor is Australia immune on that front.
Nor are our major trading partners puritanical protestant and or crime-free catholic nations. Then again the commercial interests of Australia are prejudiced by the likes of the European Economic Community and even the UK has turned its virtual back our way.
All of this demonstrates why our Constitution must be replaced with one that truly reflects our complete history and geography.
Until we do so Australia doesn't even really know who it is as a people.
