The actual danger of the acid, or radiation leaked (since it sounds like the containment design has done it's job) isn't so much the problem, as the fact that it happened at all. There was no flood, earthquake, fire, meteor etc that caused it, but an apparent maintenance problem. So I'd expect everything to be put on hold while a review is done of the whole operation.
