"THK's 5000 acres has the potential to hold about 50bcf of gas. Gas is selling at USD13 per mmbtu at the moment. So at a very very consertative valuation of USD 3 million per bcf, THK is worth about USD150 million. This is many multiples of the stock's current market cap."
Dear Mr Ramper,
Before assessing a value on acreage due to gas reserves, kindly show that this gas will produce.
Important note : Despite what you might read in Tomahawk's quarterlies, mcf is Thousand cubic feet of gas. Millions of cubic feet are mmcf, or Mcf.
THK produced 70.436 mmcf of gas, not 70,546 mmcf of gas, because their last quarterly showed $649 000 worth of gas production, and 70 billion cubic feet of gas would have sold for a little more than this, and created a little more excitement in the industry press.
Assuming only 7 wells are in production (and thats an assumption, given that the company wont actually break down their production figures), thats about 630 well/days ... or about 110 000 cf of gas per well per day.
While commercial, that is still pretty pathetic for new wells in their first year of production.
And I still want to know why the rest of their 2004-5 drilling program is taking so long to get into production.
