Thanks for sharing Ya. Great to hear from you.

Your comments about the purpose of coring are excellent and I guess another explanation is that eni figure more reservoir data (good or bad) from the region would be important info for them to improve their understanding of regional geology and so forth.

However, what I find interesting is that on 29 Nov 2013.

    Progress Report #5
They had drilled to 3,150mMDRT and were planning to drill ahead to a TD of 3,360m. Ok, all fine, as planned to this point. No mention of coring planned or possible production test up until this point.

    Then . . . on 6 Dec 2013, we get

    Progress Report #6
We learn that they had cut core from 3,226m to 3,283mMDRT and then thought it was a good idea to drill another 142m. If it looked like the GWC was in the 3,200's, I cannot see them deciding to drill down to 3,425mMDRT.

I agree that the wireline logs will provide definitive characterisation of the reservoir lithologies and whether there is pay zone, however, the fact that MEO thought it was a good idea to tack on "production test (if warranted)" to the Outlook for the well, I thought was encouraging.
