The Danish I was talking to said that they have had a lot of people come from war-torn places in Africa and Asia, and are now taking advantage of the Danish welfare state. It is placing a large amount of pressure on the ordinairy taxpayer in Denmark, as well as the system that supports Danish people. (they have fantastic medical/education system etc etc) The influx of displaced people into Western Europe makes our 'border' situation pale into insignificance.
This is one reason why a more conservative government is now in power in Denmark. Apparently the only thing that keeps Danish people from working in 'menial' jobs is a sense of self-respect....they could get more money on welfare if they wanted. Supermarkets would not have enough people to man the tellers without Danish self-respect.
