I'm a young member of the public, believe in a free market, vote liberal and consider myself a "conservative" but for the life of me, I can't get my head around why this is such an issue in the first place, surely there are more important issues to address in this country.

Secondly, I don't understand the strength of the objection to the idea.

I couldn't help but agree with every word that rolled out of Maurice Williamson in his now infamous speech in the NZ house of Reps.

I don't understand why it's such a big issue, and I don't understand the almost fanatical opposition to it.
