Japan should embrace nuclear power as an "important and fundamental" energy source, a government panel said on Friday, in advice that looks almost certain to be accepted, despite widespread anti-nuclear feeling after the Fukushima disaster.

The previous Democratic Party of Japan government had accepted a recommendation from a similar panel to abandon nuclear power sometime in the 2030s - WHICH MEANS THAT EVEN THOSE OPPOSING IT KNOW THAT THE FLEET OF NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS CAN'T REMAIN TURNED OFF IN THE SHORT TO MEDIUM TERM.

Opposition to atomic energy remains high and all of Japan's political parties, including the LDP's coalition partner, oppose nuclear power, which provided about 30 percent of electricity before the Fukushima disaster in 2011 - HOWEVER, THE OPPOSITION ARE FAIRLY POWERLESS DUE TO THE FACT THAT, DESPITE PRIME MINISTER ABE'S PRO-NUCLEAR OPINION, ALL POLLS SHOW THAT HE REMAINS VERY POPULAR AMONGST JAPANESE VOTERS.

Prior to the disaster the government had envisaged increasing the contribution of nuclear energy to 50 percent.

I PREDICT THAT JAPAN'S FIRST POWER PLANT WILL BE TURNED ON BETWEEN FEBRUARY AND MAY 2014 (AHEAD OF JAPAN'S PEAK POWER USAGE SUMMER SEASON). WHEN IT DOES I PREDICT U3O8 WILL QUICKLY RECOVER (DUE TO NO MORE FEAR OF JAPAN OFFLOADING ITS STOCKPILES) AND PDN WILL INCREASE AT LEAST 50% WITHIN A WEEK OF THIS NEWS AND TRIPLE WITHIN A YEAR OF IT (COMPARED TO CURRENT PRICES OF AROUND 45C).

DUE TO MY ABOVE-MENTIONED EXPECTATIONS I AM NOT KEEN ON MANAGEMENT SELLING 25% OF LH MINE NOW UNLESS IT IS FOR AN EXCEPTIONALLY GOOD PRICE. I BELIEVE PDN WILL BE ABLE TO REFINANCE AFTER JAPAN'S RESTARTS AND BEFORE ANY DEBT PAYMENTS ARE DUE WITHOUT AN ASSET SALE.

I AM READY TO INCREASE MY HOLDING AS SOON AS JAPAN COMMENCES TO RESTART THEIR NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS. THIS WILL BE THE CATALYST FOR THE INDUSTRY TO QUICKLY SURGE.
