I am torn between my admiration for Hird as a player and a leader, and the possibility of gross injustice to him and his family, as opposed to the long term repercussions on the EFC. Maybe, it would have been better for Hird if he had taken the long road to the High Court. But, of course, that would not have been in EFC's long term interests.
A very sad time indeed, for the AFL, EFC its members, and the football loving public.
