"Even if I was bowling fruit , id show up for a boxing day test , to run out in front of 90,000 would b a buzz not soon forgotten."

Wowog, I have absolutely no doubts in the world he got the tap on the shoulder from Flower. Swann was not going to be picked for the boxing day test, so he has packed up his bat and ball and gone home for Xmas. Monty outbowled him in Adelaide and is a much better option with an Australian middle order which is dominating and which is predominantly right handed, which blunts Swanns effectiveness. Australia's left handers are now the openers and not Swanns bread and butter. Monty on the other hand, can turn the ball away from the right handers. England have been in great positions but failed to capitalise with Haddin, Smith and Clark getting us back into winning positions. Swann wasn't doing his job and was going to be dropped for Monty. He saw the righting on the wall and retired. There is not any more to it.
