Yet, we rarely, if ever, here about the "white stolen generation" where the Australian government forced single/unmarried mothers to give up their children for adoption. And from memory the figure was quite large, just as comparable to the Aborigines.
As unfortunate as it is for both Aborigines and whites, the government thought it was best for the children at the time. Hindsight is a wonderful thing and it is easy to sit back and be highly critical of a government who thought they were doing the right thing for the children. It is tragic for both families, but they were different times.
