On a brighter note, a friend who was aware of our situation, and not wealthy, both him and his wife work, mortagge 3 kids in school etc... we had helped a bit in the past etc.. 3 Christmas's ago (2011) when it was a difficuly time for us.(it still is) on Christmas eve they came over for drinks , kinda like a tradition we have, and I opened up some nice wine (I had bought years earlier when I could ) I think some Penfolds RWT, and Magill estate etc..
anyway we exchanged small gifts to each family.. but
in the Christmas card they gave us was $2500 in cash.. I am teary now as I think about it...
I was reluctant to accept it, but they insisted...it actually helped us get through...once I found work again, I said I wanted to give it back to them, the refused as it was a gift... so I needed to respect their wishes... I knew of an elderly couple who had just found out that the husband had cancer, could not continue his part time job whilst undergoing treatment.. I visited them, explained how I had been blessed, and the person would not be repaid, so I would pay them $100 a week for 6 months , instead, so in a way it was from the other person so to speak...
There are great people out there, we all need to do our bit
