I like the signal this appointment represents, that they are getting investment banking deal making experience onto the Board (with all the relevant contacts this type of experience brings). Rather than say yet another ex oil company man.

It seems to me therefore there is some recognition that MEL needs to execute a GSA or a farm before the capital runs out and they have appointed an appropriate director to help negotiate this. Some hope the new Board is starting to get it.

And in terms of the criticism of retail investors there was a massive vote against the current Board. It wasnt the retail investor vote that saved the Board it was the major shareholders, particularly it seems ERM.
