The "war on drugs" is not working in countries like the USA, admittedly.... too many in prison from drugs alone... yep, agreed.... however, many Asian countries to our North have harsh penalties.... and nowhere near the same drug-related crime that we have filling up courts, prisons.

Methamphetamine is so damaging, not only to teeth.... go to a psych ward and you will start to see the damage it can cause at a mental level. Get a house next to some chronic users and likely you'll get a truer picture of what can happen.... speak to a grandparent bringing up their grandchildren.... etc etc...

In the West we have such a problem with methamphetamines, it is destroying a large part of a generation.... it is also having a serious effect on others.

I don't think the police are too overyly concerned with the casual dope smoker.... but of the many that try dope, a number will try other things.

Yes, when people are intoxicated on alcohol they may have a go at another drug.... IF IT IS AROUND, IF IT IS OFFERED.....

Seriously, I remember a timne many years ago in Perth before heroin came on the scenes, when many would leave their doors unlocked. I am tired of locking up all the time, because you see these blokes wandering around taking sideways glances at houses.... and you hear on the news only a proportion of the bashings, kidnappings, extortion, torture that happens with drug-related crime.

I don't think methamphetamine, in particular, should ever be considered for legal use, just like some of the other horrible concocted drugs out there.

We have a serious problem on our hands, we will have huge problems in the future with the usere of today, tomorrow, their kids.

Drastic measures need to be taken.... You start to talk about someone with a drug problem and SO MANY people will be able to tell you about a loved one lost to drugs.

I am glad Australia is starting to look at our problems with alcohol, just like they have with nicotine....
