Many children are impoverished due to the divorce rate coupled with uneducated long term unemployed primary carers, predominatly Mothers being reliant on family C/link benefits.
Attached to this type of frequent scenario is the Child Support Scheme where many Mothers receive very little from the Father due to themselves not earning much income or being a C/link recipient themselves. On top of this is it extremely difficult to audit how any C/link payment and/or child support payment is being spent. Many don't have the skills to even budget.
All govts are pushing for stay at home mothers who rely only on C/link benefits or the equivalent to be trained for employment after their children turn a certain age. This is a start.
If we can reduce the divorce rate and encourage more females into tertiary education or professional training, it may help our poverty rate IMO.
Eventually, as the world population balloons, it's hard to imagine anything else but reproduction no longer being a human right. It's to easy to have children, and it's too easy to divorce with the state picking up the bill if it all goes awry. That's the awful truth IMO. Some time away.
