Pear,
You say "..How exactly was Labor anti mining and this new government pro mining?.."
1. The new government is intent on abolishing the carbon tax that the ALP said it would never introduce in the first place. Its indeed both an anti-mining tax as well an anti-jobs tax.
2. The new government is also intent on abolishing the mining tax. The mining tax was introduced by the ALP to hit the mining sector. Hence, it is called the mining tax.
3. The new government is also streamlining environmental approvals so that mining projects can get more quickly off the ground. This will assist all mining companies including BHP and lead to more jobs.
As for your comment about political statements, I was just responding to the news article headed "Govt looks to revive BHP's Olympic Dam". I find it amusing that you make political comments thus undermining your own argument.
BHP has a great history of long term performance and appears to be well placed for the future.
