Abolish negative gearing....never in our life time!
There are many simpler means of curbing real estate prices, such as limiting overseas buyers and smsf. Simples!
Where I live, units have increased by 10% in the last 6 months. Over 60% of the buyers are overseas Asian investors who have no local knowledge of the area, but are more than happy to buy these dodgy new apartments built on the cheap. I hear the same stories from other suburbs in NSW.
I'm not racist, but an observation made by all locals. Particularly at auctions when Asian investors bid over 20% of the reserve price, ending any hope first time buyers may have. Seen this many times.
