Fair point Acorn "Shouldn't we understand the problem before we provide the solution ?"
IF the reason NG was brought in was to provide more property to rent and that has now come to have distorted property prices out of reach then what is the alternative?
Lets assume if NG was removed and prices do halve. It opens up the possibility of potential buyers who were locked out could now buy.
Once that is washed through where do the unable to buy rent?
Or where does te public housing come from?
Maybe a NEW tax could be placed on all purchases say 5% so for every 20 properties sold then one can be bought or built by public hosing to place a familly/person in that area? If not a new block but maybe a house turned into a few apartments or townhouses. Increasing dwellings and dispersing troubled economicly, mentally, physically etc people into more balanced areas.
Yes I know I said TAX, gulp. But his would be to prevent ghettos of public housing by spreading it around.
Also if property prices were to drop significantly the TAX would not be noticable.
If NG is removed it will be very painful to investors of prices were to drop a long way. It would have to be phased in very gently.
Please remember the premise of the post "IF" re Acorns question.
