Imho ,
I would consider a small part of the community as those who genuinely can't help themselves . Such as the elderly , the disabled etc.
While I can appreciate that it is hard for those starting out , I don't necessarily agree that they deserve straight out assistance . If the suburb you grew up is too expensive , then maybe you have to move to one you can afford ? Maybe you have to live in an older house without all the luxuries for a while ?
People simply have to live within their means . Governments could still provide assistance or incentives for fhb's , but it should have to be in a more worthwhile fashion .
I think there's a big opportunity to use the superannuation pool that we have to invest in Australia . In housing and infrastructure .
I'm not sure about the smsfs borrowing for houses. I'd rather see them invest in housing for the income return . That way retirees get an income and provide housing at the same time . It's possibly a more sustainable model .
